The best of Sherlock Holmes, nella bellissima edizione illustrata della Franklin Library, mi è stato regalato per Natale insieme a Shakespeare’s Histories, che trovate in questo post, insieme a una storia della casa editrice, che ha prodotto meravigliosi volumi pensati per i collezionisti fino al 2000.

È, come l’altro, un bellissimo volume rilegato in pelle vera, con segnalibro in seta cucito nel nervo. Le illustrazioni all’interno del volume sono opera di Ben F. Stahl.

Pubblicato nel 1977, The best of Sherlock Holmes fa parte della collana Collected Stories of the World’s Greatest Writers, che raccoglie 100 volumi rilegati in vera pelle, pubblicati tra il 1977 e il 1985. 

Si tratta di una collezione dei tesori della letteratura, le migliori avventure di Sherlock Holmes appunto, I viaggi di Gulliver1984 di George Orwell e tanti altri, di cui vi riporto l’elenco completo:
